Cathy Courville
Cathy took on the role of Northeastern Region Director for the ECRCNO Board of Directors in 2019. After graduating from Brock University with an Honors BA in Psychology, Cathy knew she wanted to work with children in some capacity and has been fortunate to have been involved in the area of early childhood for her entire 26 year career. She has worked as both a Resource Teacher and a Resource Consultant. Her current role is with the Cochrane District Social Services Administration Board (CDSSAB) as the Child Care Quality Assurance Program Manager. In this role, she oversees 3 Program Consultants for our district, which includes Moosonee, Hearst, Kapuskasing, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Timmins, and all areas in between.
Children’s mental health is something I am very passionate about advocating for. I am a chapter leader for PCMH (parents For Children’s Mental Health), a member of the Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario Provincial Family Advisory Committee, and I sit on our city’s Youth Committee as an adult ally. I am also a Hanen “Learning Language and Loving It” trainer.
During my 26 years working in early childhood, I have had the privilege of working with so many amazing individuals as we all made the journey from integration to inclusion, navigated the introduction and implementation of a new approach through “How Does Learning Happen?”, and lived through child care during a worldwide pandemic. The past 4 years that I have spent on this Board have allowed me to meet some of the funniest and most dedicated individuals I know. I have learned that anything is possible when the right people come together, even an all-virtual conference!
As a Regional Director, Cathy is responsible for helping to grow the membership base for the North by encouraging those in the Resource field to become members and experience the rewards it offers. Part of her role is also to ensure that the voices of those in the Northcentral region of Ontario are heard when conference topics and presentation opportunities arise, and that the members are up to date on all information ECRTNO related. Cathy previously worked as a Resource Teacher and Consultant for over 23 years and is now the Child Care Quality Assurance Program Manager for the Cochrane district.
